Fertile Ground(breaking)

With infertility rates growing, one local doctor is breaking new ground — literally and figuratively — with his new “conception center,” SpringCreek Fertility. Read on to learn more about it and his Fertility Foods book that explains three small diet changes that have a big effect on fertility.

It’s not always easy to get pregnant. No one knows that better than Lorie and Dr. Jeremy Groll. More than 20 years ago, as the couple started their family while Jeremy went through medical school, they created a vision for a fertility center like no other.

“Over the years, the vision came into focus,” says Dr. Groll, who opened SpringCreek Fertility in July 2014 in a temporary space before moving into its current location in Centerville, Ohio, in March 2015.

Today, SpringCreek Fertility welcomes everyone who wants to have children, regardless of their marital status or sexual orientation. “We are proud to serve the Western Ohio region offering evidence-based, patient-centered fertility treatments for anyone wanting to continue to build their family,” says Dr. Groll.

As they help patients start (or continue growing) the family they’ve always wanted, SpringCreek Fertility is doing it in a state-of-the-art facility that was designed by MedTech for Solutions. “Together, with the SpringCreek associates, we are pleased that now we get to help others build the family of their dreams,” says Dr. Groll.

According to Dr. Groll, SpringCreek Fertility treatments are based on a wellness model. “Rather than a fertility clinic, we like to think of ourselves as a ‘conception center,’” he says. “We recognize that patients expect state-of-the-art, evidence-based treatments and, at the same time, we pay close attention to the emotional and financial experience as well.”

Because fertility treatments are notoriously expensive, Dr. Groll says they help with that, too. “The medical, physical, emotional and financial aspects of fertility treatments cannot be separated,” he says. “They are integral parts of the challenge with infertility.”

That’s why fertility treatments and preservation at SpringCreek Fertility are priced for accessibility and tailored to meet a family’s goals. “We recognize that fertility treatments can be a challenge, but they don’t have to be a battle,” says Dr. Groll. “We work to break down barriers, expose hidden obstacles and help patients’ dreams of having a baby become a reality.”

Ultimately, Dr. Groll says, the goal from the moment patients step through the door, is for them to complete their first trimester of pregnancy and graduate them to their OB/GYN.

In addition to the work he does at SpringCreek Fertility, Dr. Groll is also the author of the book, Fertility Foods. “Fertility Foods was designed to help patients understand how their lifestyle choices in diet and exercise can impact their fertility and potentially improve their outcomes,” he says.

Dr. Groll’s studies and practice don’t just focus on female fertility. He’s also dedicated to making a difference in the world of male fertility as well. “According to recently published articles in Fertility & Sterility, the male’s fertility journey is often an afterthought and has been largely ignored,” he says. “Our collection rooms are designed to offer privacy and comfort. In addition, we are working with a start-up company, Androlotech, to help improve the male fertility experience.”

SpringCreek Fertility is also on the cutting edge of advancing some of the newest areas of the field. Specifically, Dr. Groll is working to make pre-implantation genetic screening and diagnosis more accessible to patients who have genetic issues. “Like many fertility centers, we routinely offer genetic screening to our patients,” he says. “However, when genetic diseases or chromosomal imbalances are identified, the financial costs to treat it are expensive.”

Dr. Groll adds that the financial costs to screen for diseases and imbalances is often far less than the financial and emotional costs of caring for a person who is born with genetic imbalances. “We are advocating for patients to help them appeal to their insurance companies to help defray some of the cost of pre-implantation genetic screening and diagnosis,” he explains.

SpringCreek Fertility is located at 7095 Clyo Road in Centerville, Ohio. To learn more about SpringCreek Fertility, visit their website. You can also follow along on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Instagram.
